Elopement
Considering Eloping? Here's Why it Might be the Perfect Solution.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities that come with a traditional wedding? Perhaps you're looking to create a more environmentally-friendly event, value experiences over material possessions, or just don't want to be in the spotlight. Creating a guest list can be a daunting task, but eloping may be the ideal solution.

choose a location & date
Choosing the Ideal Setting for Your Elopement
Whether you prefer lakes, forests, or towns, there are several factors to consider when selecting the perfect location. Do you want a more accessible or challenging terrain? Do you prefer a winter or summer climate? These decisions may seem overwhelming, but don't fret; I have plenty of suggestions to help you narrow down your options.
secure license
Obtaining Your Marriage License and Certificate
To ensure a seamless elopement process, it's crucial that you submit your forms for the marriage license in person and well in advance – up to 180 days prior to the ceremony. After the elopement ceremony, you can submit the necessary paperwork to obtain your official marriage certificate.
find officiant & photographer
Ceremony Planning in Ontario: Officiant or No Officiant?
For a symbolic ceremony, an officiant is not necessary. However, if you're planning a legal wedding in Ontario, you will need an officiant. I can assist with finding one, or even better, help one of your friends or family become a temporary marriage commissioner for the day.
choose your witness/guests
Feel free to invite as many or as few guests as you desire for your elopement. Keep in mind that you will need two witnesses, and vendors such as photographers are not uncommon choices.
decide on activities/dinning
Do you have specific activities or restaurants in mind? Whether it's hiking, taking a helicopter ride to a remote destination, or dining at a brewery, feel free to plan it. The possibilities are endless!
pick your vendors
It's important that you select vendors who align with your vision and values, and with whom you can establish a connection.
Book Your Accommodations
Booking Your Stay in Ontario: Tips and Recommendations
With certain locations being a highly sought-after tourist destination, accommodations fill up quickly, particularly in the summer and on weekends. To ensure a comfortable stay, it's best to book your lodging as soon as possible.
If you're looking for more affordable options, consider outside of tourist spots. Planning your elopement during the week or off-season can also help you save on lodging.
